“UK Alternative/Rock band Komla have already established themselves as a badass live act. The 3 piece plays the kind of stripped down hook-laden guitar rock that never goes out of style. But they do it with a surprising amount of depth and soul"
- Nathan Leigh (AfroPunk)
Formed in West London, in September 2012, KOMLA has played all over London including: The o2 Academy, The Hoxton Underbelly, headlining at the famous 100 Club Oxford Street and The Camden Barfly. Festival shows range from headlining a Rock Festival in Lithuania to supporting the headline act for the Sigulda Blues Festival, Latvia, to successive Oxjam Festivals in London.
Influenced by the virtuoso musicians that have graced this earth right from the 60's through to the few true modern day performers, KOMLA's sound is a unique pop-rock sound to the listener but it is also familiar as the melodies, guitar riffs, driving bass lines and reverberating beats from the drums all ring through to deliver what has been described by The Darkness' bass player Frank Poullain as “their music having a lot of light".
This is Feel Good music at its best! Their on-stage theatrics certainly pay homage to that as the band radiates their energy from their flamboyant swagger and style through each and every note.
"Absolutely awesome" Timeout London. "This is a 3 piece band with balls" (Raggi Pétursson Last Minute Artists Collective/Festival Organiser).
1 guitar, 1 bass, drums and 1 voice & the sound that they deliver is powerful- no gimmicks nor gadgets, true raw grooves that move and soothe. Their live performance at the Sigulda Blues Festival got everyone on their feet demanding for an encore.
Photographer Guntis Pilsētnieks says of their performance "To this very day, I remember that your concert was one of the best I've heard this year" equally photographer Aigars Lapsa says of KOMLA,"the best artists for me that evening".
In March 2013 the band released their 1st EP produced by Paul Reeve (MUSE).
